The Guru Image Development
Montgomery Frazier, "The Image Guru", began his illustrious career in the artsy Soho District of Manhattan working as the Creative Director for the then "trendy" boutique Parachute, where he dressed pop groups like Duran Duran, icons like Cher and an up and coming girl named Madonna for "Live Aid". As Creative Director he worked with fashion photographers Mario Testino and David LaChapelle and lunched with Andy Warhol at The Factory.
In the MTV era of the mid 80's, as the Fashion Director for MTV, he literally helped to introduce an entire generation of "Rock & Rollers" to fashion and style. He created this genre of fashion commentary on a revolutionary dance show called Club MTV where he cultivated MTV icon Downtown Julie Brown. He helped to discover and gave a platform to a multitude of creative fashion talents which included Dolce & & Gabbana, Pat Field, Emporio Armani, Nicole Miller, Stephen Sprouse and countless other fledgling fashion talents during his tenure as the MTV Fashion Director.
In the mid 90's he then went on to serve as a Fashion Consultant at E! Entertainment TV and was the Fashion Director at the irreverent "scene-zine, club-kid" magazine, Projext X which featured artists like Bjork, Dee-Lite, Moby and actresses like Mila Jovovich & Liv Tyler.
Today, his roster of celebrity clients continue to rely on his soup-to-nuts image management, far beyond clothes.
He currently serves as one of the Expert FAB50 Pros at HonestlyNow.com, is a New York Brand Ambassador to the LGBTA Communities at dot429, is a Contributing Editor for ZINK Magazine, and now teams up once again with his longtime muse, Downtown Julie Brown, as the BILLBOARD "TMI" New York Fashion/Lifestyle Correspondent.
Oft-quoted for his opinions about pop culture and lifestyle, he continues to
impart his brand of common sense, wisdom, style & vision.
