Adam Advocaat
warehouse worker in New Westminster, BC, Canada
Autistic adult who continues to break the stereotypes in life, work and play. 40 year old he/him warehouse lackey with his heart in gaming and sports.
Hockey has always been a thing in my family as I'm not a great hockey player or a skater, my method of involvement has been as an off-ice official, starting with recreational and occasional minor league games in 2005. I started in Junior A in 2011 and am now the Head Off-ice Official for the BCHL's Coquitlam Express. I also worked the 2022 Hockey Canada World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Langley and Delta, where I was assigned as the Game Timekeeper for the gold medal game.
A lot of my successes can be credited to the skills I learned as a Special Olympics athlete, which I have been since 1997, and have had the honour of attending two national games (Charlottetown 2004 and Vancouver 2014) and the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles.
