Ever since I can remember, the most consistent question people asked me is: "What do you plan to be?" Used to freak me out not having a specific answer, as I actually loved to do multiple things and was really good at those things.
My last job at Walmart Inc. as a buyer was probably my favorite, as I got to touch everything in the business I managed. We were told we were CEO of a small company and that mindset felt awesome to me. What was missing from this dream job? I actually wanted to be CEO of my own company. I'd like to foster an environment where potential can matter the same amount as experience to an extent, because i'm tired of seeing "*Required: 10 years experience for entry level data position." I want people to love what they do, but also step outside their comfort zone and grow. Also an environment where value isn't measured by how long you sit at your desk.
Could just be a pipe dream, but at least I have something to chase.
