Joshua Moorhead
Student in Athens, Georgia
Hello, My name is Joshua Moorhead. I am a student of the University of Georgia in the Terry College of Business seeking a bachelor's degree in marketing. I decided on marketing when I realized that I did not want to go the science route and I like working in groups to solve a problem or achieve a result. When I am not on campus studying you can find me watching football or basketball on t.v. I enjoy playing tennis with friends, and cooking with my girlfriend. I am interested in learning how to rock climb whenever I find the time to spare.
In the month of January I have learned just how important of a skill communication really is. In fact, employers say that communication and efficiency are the top soft skills to be improved in the workplace. This really shows just how important these skills are and how beneficial they can prove to be. I have also learned how word choice is everything. Certain words are better for certain kinds of communication whether it is formal or informal. We also learned the correct way to format a memo and how to best get all the relevant information into an email. In January we also discussed the principles of effective business communication through the use of the 7 c's. The other week everyone had to give a presentation on a company and it was interesting to see how everyone did and communicated the value of a position with their chosen company.
