Why Origami Cranes?

Good question. It started with a crane someone folded for me. It was bright and whimsical and happy and I wanted more. I had never attempted anything origami related before but after a few tutorials I became a folding fiend. The thing I love most about origami is that it requires you to be present and attentive but it is not difficult work-folding paper has become somewhat of a meditation for me. The thing I love about this project is not only does it keep me present, or allow me to help others through something simple-not only has it become an artistic expression, but they are tiny little reminders of peace that have taken over my life. My dog carries them around. I find them under the couch, in the laundry, in my pockets, at my desk, and a few never fail to make it into my dust pan when I sweep. They are little reminders of mindfulness, tiny messengers of peace, and instant smiles for me.
