Ever since I was a child my mother told me "that an eduction is the first step toward accomplishing any goal and that with an education i can do anything my heart desires." Throughout my life I have thought back to these words and I have used them to help me get through my journey.
In 2009, I graduated from Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, NC. After graduation I took a semester off from school to figure out what my next step in life would be and in spring of 2010 i enrolled in Forsyth Technical Community College. When I started my college career I had my heart set on being a Neonatal Nurse. One semester into nursing decided thatit was not for me and I changed my major to Criminal Justice. After changing my major to Criminal Justice i quickly realized that I had found something I was truly interested in. In December of 2012 i moved to Cary, NC and in May of 2013 I graduated with my Associates in Applied Science in Criminal Justcoe Technology degree. Having my mind set on being a K-9 officer, I had not planned on returning to school for my Bachelors degree. Around August of 2013 I decided that I wantd to purse a career in Juvenile Justice and I wanted to attend NCCU to continue my education.
I am currently a junior majoring in Criminal Justice here at North Carolina Central University. Once i graduate I would like to have a career in juvenile detention counseling, become a motivational speaker, and i would also like to start my own mentoring program. Always having a passion for working wih and being around children, I believe that with compassion and guidance we can make the future of our youth very bright.
Although it has not been an easy journey I am blessed to have made it this far and I look forward to continuing my journey and seeing the desires of my heart come to life.
