Morgan Cherner
clothing designer in Montecito, California
I have been an artist as far back as I can remember. My artistic journey began as a child. My father who is an accomplished artist and painter trained me to draw and taught me the basic techniques. I found I gravitated towards comic book artwork. I would spend hours copying art that inspired me from my favorite Marvel, Image, and DC comics. I found the powerful characters and depictions amazing and wanted to create art and drawings in that surreal comic style. I continued to draw but always saw my art as strictly a hobby and not a viable way to make a living.
I graduated from University of Colorado, Boulder and began my professional career
in Manhattan, NY working on Wall Street as broker and then as an
investment banker. I went on to work for a securities day trading
operation and moved to California. After a decade of working in finance and for a couple large financial institutions I found I was looking for more out of my life and career. I began to reinvest myself in my artwork and decided I wanted to form a career and business around my art. I started to think about ways to gain exposure for my art I realized that rather than hanging a single piece of art on someone’s wall I could put my art on a tee shirt where it could be seen by many people not just a wealthy few. This was a much more powerful avenue for me to display my work. I turned to tee shirts as my medium of choice and then began to create a business model and brand around it. I set out to create not only powerful art but also a product and business I was proud of and wanted to share with the world. This is my story and the story of Morgan & Miles Clothing.
