Honored for his service to the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York City, Morton Landowne has contributed to numerous Jewish cultural boards, including Jewish Congregations in America, Edah, American Friends of Ohr Torah Stone, and the American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro. Morton Landowne also helped found the Jewish Community Center of Manhattan, and he has served on the board of trustees at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University since 1971.

Professionally, Morton Landowne began his career in sales and worked for more than two decades with Plaza Packaging Corporation, providing high-end packaging service. In 2008, he became the executive director of Nextbook, Inc. Through his partnership with Penguin/Random House, he has published numerous books addressing topics of Jewish history and culture.

Morton Landowne also created an award-winning Jewish magazine known as Tablet Magazine. Out of that magazine have come three notable podcasts, Israel Story, Unorthodox, and Vox Tablet. The magazine's website has played an influential role in Jewish culture, with millions of monthly visitors and thousands of email subscribers.
