Moshe Ohayon Louisville

Years ago, Moshe Ohayon of Louisville was a student who struggled with standardized tests. A self-professed "bad" tester, he put together a few practical techniques that worked well for him as he strove to improve his test scores. In college, as a physics major at Columbia University, Ohayon found that he was able to pass some of the same techniques along to other students and help them succeed in their classes. Now, Ohayon and his staff at Louisville Tutoring Agency (LTA) are applying those techniques as they help college-bound students improve their scores on the ACT and SAT. Ohayon has even published a book, The ACT for Bad Test Takers, which details his novel approach to tackling the ACT exam.

At LTA, Ohayon has made the individualized approach to student achievement the primary focus. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, the experienced tutors at LTA concentrate on understanding each student’s goals and needs, and then customize a game plan to help the student meet them. Students at LTA have been very successful in reaching the highest levels of student learning. They have also significantly boosted their scores on college entrance exams such as the SAT and ACT, as well as graduate school tests such as the LSAT and MCAT, and gained entry into the best universities in the country.

But Ohayon felt strongly that the opportunities that lead to academic success should not be restricted to students of families that can afford them. In 2010, he founded Educational Justice, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that underserved students have equal access to an effective education. Leveraging off his experience at LTA, Ohayon designed innovative Educational Justice programs that provide the high quality tutoring and test prep at no cost to disadvantaged students in and around Louisville.
