Mostafa Sherbiny

Mostafa Sherbiny, known professionally as Ambassador Dr. Mostafa Sherbiny, is an Egyptian sustainability consultant, climate risk assessor, and ESG expert, and the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Sustainability and Carbon Footprint LLC in Egypt. He has more than 35 years of professional experience in sustainability governance, carbon footprint management, greenhouse gas accounting, and environmental auditing across the Middle East, Africa, and the Euro Mediterranean region.
He is the author of the Carbon Neutrality Encyclopedia, an eight volume reference work of more than 3,000 pages published between 2022 and 2025. The encyclopedia covers carbon neutrality, greenhouse gas management, sustainability reporting, environmental management systems, climate governance, and international sustainability frameworks, and is regarded as one of the first comprehensive Arabic language references dedicated to the subject. His writing draws on field verification work, assurance engagements, and training programs delivered across the Arab region.
Sherbiny graduated from the Faculty of Commerce at Cairo University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting. He later completed a Higher Diploma in Environmental Management Systems in 2002 and a Higher Diploma in Management in 2004 at the Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences, and received a Professional Doctorate from the National Center for Agricultural Research. He is a Certified Public Accountant accredited by the Egyptian Ministry of Finance, an FSA Credential Holder awarded by the IFRS Foundation, and a holder of the Sustainability Assurance Certificate from the ICAEW. His technical qualifications include Lead Auditor certification for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 under CQI and IRCA, and accreditation as a greenhouse gas emissions lead verifier.
He serves as Chairman of the Scientific Chair for Sustainability and Carbon Footprint at ALECSO under the League of Arab States, and as Chief Executive Officer of the International Expertise House for ESG. In 2022 he became the first Egyptian appointed European Climate Pact Ambassador by the European Commission. He is an Official Observer to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and has led observer delegations to the United Nations Climate Change Conferences from COP26 through COP30. His advisory work covers ESG reporting, sustainability assurance, climate finance, net zero pathways, MRV systems, and international frameworks including CSRD, CBAM, CSDDD, and the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
Sherbiny is the founder of the Global Climate Ambassadors Initiative, through which more than 3,100 participants have completed climate leadership training. He has also contributed to the Carbon Neutral Pioneers initiative, the Water Footprint Pioneers initiative, and the Auditors and Experts Initiative in Sustainability and Climate Risk Assessment, all aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. As a keynote speaker and instructor he has delivered lectures, executive training programs, and conference presentations for governments, universities, international organizations, and private sector institutions, and was among the first experts to deliver specialized CBAM training in the Middle East.
