Hello, I'm a computer science major at the University of Georgia. One interesting fact about me is that I love the outdoors almost as much as computers. Since I joined Cub Scouts in the first grade, I have enjoyed camping and hiking in the woods. My appreciation only grew as I rose through the cub scout ranks, eventually earning the Arrow of Light award through completing the program's many activities. Although I had no idea at the time, I would go on to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout by collecting all of the required merit badges and completing an Eagle Scout project. During my time as a Scout, I had the opportunity to participate in two "high adventure" trips. My favorite of the two was a ten-day backpacking trip to New Mexico, where I was part of a small group of Scouts and adults. During those ten days, we hiked over 70 miles under the summer sun while carrying all the food, water, and equipment we required on our backs. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget. As my career will predominantly consist of many hours sitting stationary at a computer, I hope to balance it out with similar trips in the future.
