I agree with Sunni Brown in her Ted Talk about doodling, "Under no circumstances should doodling be eradicated from the classroom. . . " But what does that have to do with my biography or my digital presence? Well, to start you should know that I believe creativity is essential in education and it is my driving force. I also believe technology is the perfect tool to connect creativity and the curriculum. I worked my way through college and I survived the business world before I decided to embark on a different path. However, that business world taught me more about teaching than I initially accepted. Collaboration is essential in the business world. It is also essential in education. Technology infusion in our world is making it so much easier to collaborate and share. I can admit that not a day goes by that I am not on the Internet looking for ways to infuse the curriculum with tasks that inspire creativity or make a lesson more interesting, alive or challenging. I am thankful for the pioneers who announced their presence much sooner than I have. Forbes Thought Of The Day “ True success is the only thing that you cannot have unless and until you have offered it to others. ” — Sri Chinmoy . . . and a digital presence makes this so much easier to do. My small digital presence can be found on my school website where I often include technology lessons for my students. I have also published an Interact Simulation: Lewis and Clark: A Simulation of the Corps of Discovery. I have taught several classes for teachers, for my district and a few at RAFT in San Jose. I have been awarded the Harriet Golden Award for excellence in teaching, notably for using technology. I participated in my district’s first Digital Media Academy and the following year, I was able to participate in an iPad academy. As the district's STEAM elementary teacher, I am always looking for clever ideas.
