Matthew Allen
I'm Matthew Allen, and I love Jesus. Don't worry, I won't preach for my biography, but Jesus is without a doubt the most influential being in my life, and truly helps define me as man, a brother, a friend, and a son. Like many southern boys, I was raised in the church. It’s where I’ve met my some of closest friends, learned to play basketball, and was baptized. Later on in life, it was the place I met my roommates and the place I became a leader. After I left my home of Sandy Springs and came to Athens as a freshman, I joined Freshley, the freshman outreach of the UGA Wesley Foundation. Now in my second year, I have become a prayer leader at both Wesley and Freshley, serving the place that served me in so many beautiful ways. The main reason that I go back is not for my friends or the new freshman, it’s for Jesus. He is why I sacrifice my time to go pray before the services, or stay in Snelling until midnight just connecting with new people. He called me to do so, and so I shall follow. Most importantly, he forgives me. I’m not one of those people that can read a command and not do it. I may know something is wrong, but I still do it. I always, always regret that decision, but some us just have to learn the hard way, and as I learn the Lord by me every step of the way waiting to pick me up and place me back on the right track.
