Larry Bohannon

I am a 58 year young Christ-follower who has recently experienced the disollution of a 31+ year mixed-orientation marriage (I'm the gay one) with an incredible woman of. God. It grieves me that it is over, but it was a GREAT RIDE, and I have a 29 year old daughter, a super son-in-law, a new grandson (20 months as of 6/2014), and an incredibly talented son. My 26 year old son is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro (Magna cum Laude - his doing, not ours) who is currently writing, composing, & recording music, as well as beginning a NEW careeras a copy editor for SECU that he is really jazzed about! I ended my 30th year of teaching by retiring in April from the Wake County Public School System.

I have moved to Spruce Pine, NC to live with my partner, Jon. He is a retired kindergarten teacher and potter who lives in Spruce Pine, NC. His love of the NC mountains has quickly become my love of the NC mountains. I look forward to growing in Christ along side ths amazing man.

Strengths: hospitality (spiritual gift), humor (I love making people laugh/smile), encouragement, can actually follow a recipe (thus pretty decent cook), but also love to whip up a mean soup, stew, etc. from scratch. Genuinely love teaching, my students, and though imperfectly, try to help each of them to realize their incredible value in my eyes (because of their incredible value and worth in God's eyes).

Weaknesses: am too often a rescuer and enabler (working on that), have CDO (it's like OCD, only the letters are in order, as they should be), procrastinate (I was going to work on that one, too, but decided to wait until later), love to make puns (somebody please stop me), spend too much, too often (I AM working on that one).
