My name is John Fairbanks and I currently serve as Principal of Genesis PreparatorySchool. I believe that educators act as a guide and mentor within the classroom setting for all students that they come in contact with. I am a firm believer in mentoring the “whole student” -- academically, athletically, and socially, as well as helping students understand the importance of one’s membership in the community. As educators we all need to understand that our influence over those that we teach does not end in the classroom and often times our interactions with students outside the classroom can build stronger alliances between the teacher and the student.

I earned my B.A. in History, with Minor in Communications and a M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction, both from the University of Florida. While at UF, I had the amazing opportunity to be a member of the University of Florida football team, which won two SEC and BCS National Football Championships in 2006 & 2008. I was named to the Hampshire Honor Society of the National Football Foundation, the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll for three consecutive years, was a nominee for The Burlsworth Trophy and earned a post-graduate school scholarship for Community Service hours earned within the Gainesville area.
