Harry Smith
A veteran air filtration executive in Washington, North Carolina
The former CEO and COO of Flanders Corporation, Harry Smith began his career with the Washington, North Carolina-based manufacturer and marketer of air filers in 1997. While serving as CEO between 2007 and 2015, he brought Flanders Corporation’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) from a negative total to $30 million. He also oversaw a more than $100 million increase in Flanders’ income and grew revenue to $300 million. Before taking on leadership of Flanders Corporation, Harry Smith progressed through several roles of increasing authority and worked across several of the company’s branches, including Charcoal Services, Inc. (CSC), Flanders Filters, Inc. (FFI), Filter Sales and Service (FSS), and AirSeal Filter Housings.
Harry has done several succesful start ups which jointly has created over 300 jobs in eastern NC. Promanics was a ground zero start up with two facilities one facilty 110,000 sq ft was located in Wilson North Carolina manufactures air filtration media was sold to SWM Delstar the other facility a 50,000 sq ft manufacturing facility manufactures glass media was sold to Flanders after Harry's retirement from the company.
Harry also currently owns National Whse Leasing that he founded in 2007 that owns and manages multi family and commercial properties across the country.
Currently Harry owns Pitt Electric that is a commercial electrical and HVAC contractor as well as Oakridge Industries a sheet metal, fabrication and machine shop. Jointly they employ 150 plus employees.
Actively involved in the management of North Carolina’s public institutions of higher education, Harry Smith sits on the University of North Carolina Board of Governors and chairs its Budget and Finance Committee. He enjoys participating in competitive offshore fishing and has previously won such contests as the 2012 Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament and the 2011 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.
