Mark Christian Reyes
Durham, NC
I was born in the Philippines in the year of 1992. That same year my mother came to the United States to look for a better oppurtunity as a nurse to support me and my father who was living in the philippines at that time. Two years later me and my father came to the U.S. to live with my mom and get our own share of the American life.
Ever since then me and my family have lived in Durham, NC until my father got laid off at the job he was working at and decided to change gears and focus on going back to school, studying for the medical field. He decided he wanted to study in the Philippines, and since i was still young and nobody would look after me at home alone when mom was off at work they decided it was best for me to study high school in the Philippines.
As a 13 year old who never got in touch much with his own foreign country let alone knew one single Tagalog word, i was always picked on by my fellow filipino classmates. I was always so nervous and scared to go upfront in the class and speak out to present something, afraid that if i say the wrong word in tagalog wrong i might get bullied or picked on, when back in the Philippines i was the polar opposite. I was talkative, brilliant, popular and confident. But when i was in the Philippines my whole personality changed until it was so bad i started becoming shy, timid and developed an unconssious way of stuttering.
4 years later i finally graduated high school in 2008 and went back home to Durham, NC where i studied a little bit of my nursing degree at Durham Tech. I then transferred to NCCU to continue my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, where i am now a part of the eagle crowd.
My interests include photography, art and art history, reading, hobbie writing on different subject matter, jogging, travel, museums, cooking, wine, fine dining, culture, podcasts, and movies.
