Michael Matera is an educator who has set his sights on changing the game of school. Michael is an enthusiastic keynote speaker, technology trainer, and self-proclaimed gamification sherpa.

Michael is the Co-Founder of the educational blog edbean.com, as well as, the moderator of #VidEd, a weekly Twitter chat. Additionally, Michael launched the popular educational podcast, Edbean - Ideas Worth Sprouting, to inspire and help educators reach new heights. Michael is currently serving on the Teachtown Initiative in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is on the board of both the Wisconsin and National Councils for Social Studies. He currently is a gamification consultant to educational technology companies, such as Cel.ly, World of Class Craft, Conqueso, and Facebook.

Michael pushes the envelope to bring both student engagement and purpose-driven learning to every classroom. Recently, Michael was honored to present at Canada’s National Gamify-Ed conference, Next Generation Schools conference, and ISTE. He is a dynamic speaker who has hosted professional development opportunities for districts on topics from gamification to being a connected educator. Michael is an innovative educator who brings play, passion, and purpose to his classroom. Through collaboration, Michael hopes to help educators turn their captive students into a captivated ones.
