M. Roc Pe'rine

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Hello there!
My name is Marshawn Leon-Iroc Pe’rine but known usually as M.Roc Pe’rine. People typically call me Roc for short and I’m fine with that. I was born and raised in the Midwest, Chicago, Il to be exact. My mother and grandfather were both artists and so I guess its hereditary that I am one. My early inspiration came from Star Wars (original saga), early morning cartoons, the Hasbro family after school shows, and stop-motion features like Gumby. These both large and small productions inspired the direction of my artistic talents.
Before I was 10 years old I started small productions myself under my business name Central Businesses Comics. I created puppet shows, comic books, stop-motion films, and silly live-action footage, all of which were entertainment created for my friends and to try to impress my mother. In high school, I created comic books, did the comic strip for the school newspaper and the cover for the yearbook. At that time, I really dived into more video related projects and tried my hand at acting and directing and taking it more seriously.
After high school I did not go straight into college. I continued pushing video production and renamed that childhood business name to Centcom Entertainment and went legal in 2001, where I did music videos, commercials for local businesses, a few short documentaries and two episodes of my own entertainment show. This went on for years, until I realized how far behind I was in many production methods. So I realized in order to have a fighting chance in this career I need to catch-up, and so I jumped into school as fast as possible.
Currently, I am still a student. But now I am a Masters of Fine Arts degree student at the Academy of Art University enrolled in the Animation & Visual Effects program. My focus is visual-effects compositing.

My talents because of my two enrollments have extended to 3D modeling, voice acting, texturing, vector art, character design, digital photo editing, print, light, and color, digital video and digital video editing. I have found that I absolutely love 3D modeling and visual effects. So I am hoping to get into the main-stream industry utilizing my talents in an environment where I can be a team player and continue to learn the ways of the Jedi Master artist before I go off into running my own business again. Hopefully I will be able to extend this bio soon to include great works to come!
