Marie Rossiter
Liberty Township, OH
Hey there! I’m your hostess, Marie. Are you ready to get real?
As a parent, my goal has always been to keep it real with my kids. I’ve never sugar coated anything for them and always make sure they understand real world won’t think they are as cute, smart, funny, talented--insert your favorite compliment here as mom and dad do.
That being said, I am damn proud of my girls and want them to grow up to be self-confident, self-reliant and...well, we’re back to real again.
I can’t stand fake people.
I’m a 40-something year old mom--I say “40-something” not because I’m vain about my age. There are simply days I don’t remember how old I really am, but I can confidently say I’ve passed the 40-mark and haven’t hit 50. I have to remember what year it is, what year I was born and then there’s math involved.
Have I mentioned I can’t stand math, either?
I live in the Cincinnati, OH area with my husband, Jon. He’s still with me after nearly 20 years. I think the Pope is considering him for sainthood already. I have two girls: Cailyn, age 15 and Erin, age 11. I think having a female teen and tween in the house should make me eligible for some sort of title, too. There is never a dull moment.
Mom Gets Real is the place where I get to say all the things that bang around in my brain that I’m not able to share in my day to day life. Why not? Well, I have a teen girl and a tween girl--so, getting a word in at all in my house can be a challenge. My thoughts get interrupted so often that it’s a wonder I can come up with a coherent thought at all.
I’m also discovering as my girls get older, they’re throwing a lot of my stuff back at me and challenging me to “keep it real” with not only them, but also myself. I suppose I should share that stuff, too. Damn..
Beyond my family, I adore music, all things Disney (but especially Walt Disney World), tech gadgets, concerts, the theater and books. I admit to fangirling about any or all of these things from time to time and I’m sure you’ll be reading more about these things here.
I’m glad you’re here and can’t wait to connect with others who “get it.” I hope you enjoy!
