Hi. I'm Deb Joseph, a life-long learner, convinced that Creativity Counts, Art Transforms and Design Matters. A seasoned art + design educator, I find instructional curriculum design and delivery exciting. As a veteran teacher, I inspire creativity through open-ended art and design opportunities. As a curriculum and instructional designer, I produce clear and concise instructional support materials that naturally differentiate with access points reaching a broad range of students.

Education is my third career. Prior to teaching I was the director of operations at an advertising agency, and a designer/owner of a children's wear company.

I relocated to Santa Barbara, CA, and now teach Art, Design and Digital Communications at Carpinteria High School beginning fall 2016. Carpinteria is a unique and joyful community. The focus of my classes is nurturing students innate creativity and helping them find their voice.

From 2002 - 2016, I taught Art, Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design along with, Art History at Beverly Hills High School.

In addition to teaching, from 2009 - 2016, I was the Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator for the Beverly Hills Unified School District. As the District Arts Coordinator, my responsibilities include:

• Managing the District Arts Budget and Allocations for 22 Visual and Performing Arts Teachers.

• Writing annual Arts Grants and the Compliance Reports.

• Facilitating and writing two District Strategic Arts Plan(s) the most recent for 2015-2019.

I continue to be a Teacher Leader with TCAP (The California Art Project). Since 2013, I've worked closely with other teacher leaders facilitating Teacher Development workshops throughout southern California.

Personal pursuits include life-long-learning, reading, writing and making art/design in multiple mediums. My education and degree's reflect my interests:
