Mrs Thrifty Knickers

I grew up in a small Essex village, where my time was split between rescuing fish that could only swim in circles from pet shops and buying useless crap from boot and jumble sales. Not much has changed except I now rescue chickens and cats and the grade of crap I buy is slightly higher. Wisdom comes with age you see.

1 year ago I decided to give up meat, and become a vegetarian after rescuing 3 ex battery chickens, they knew I was cooking one of their mates in the kitchen, and after all the guilt trips and peer pressure they put me under, I finally gave it up on the 14th of November 2014. They got to my husband as well and in March 2015 he joined the dark side.

It was 2 years ago I finally got my finger out of my bottom and decided to convert the bottom of my garden to a mini vegetable patch and from then on I was obsessed with living my own little attempt at a homemade, frugal life. Out were the weekends away spent at festivals and all night raves and in came chitting potatoes and making jam.

Please do not be fooled, I am far from a professional and I'm sure my attempts are somewhat laughable to most. But I love it, and it's better for people to be laughing with Me (and at me) while I'm doing it. So here are my musings and stories of bumbling along in my thrifty life
