Shannon Jaques

I love to crochet, it is my hobby and my perpetual time waster as my husband so lovingly calls it. I recently started making doggie sweaters for my teacup chihuahua Ducati, but I also have a favorite slouchy hat and fingerless gloves set that has been keeping me busy. I have also been making little cell phone pouches that can actually be used for pretty much anything. I love trying new things, and am always up for a challenge.

I am absolutely the worst when it comes to talking about myself. As much as I am an optimist to everyone else, as the saying goes, "I am my own worst critic." I crochet because I know that if I don't like what I make, I can always take it out and make something else. It's soothes me to know that I have total control over at least one thing in my life. I have always been creative when it comes to yarn. When I was younger I made little blankets for my dolls, and stuffed animals. Then as I got a little older I made clothes for them. When I became a Mom, I made my babies hats, gloves, booties, blankies, little summer dresses. Now my daughter is 6 and is learning to crochet too. I love how I can pass this down to the next generation thru my baby girl just like my Mom and Grandmother did for me. If we don't continue to teach then it will go away. There are no machines that can make what we create with a ball of yarn a little hook.
