Favorite Story:
There was a man on his way to work one morning when the world was a harder place to navigate. He worked in a factory from dusk to dawn. Each morning it was the factory whistle that heralded the beginning of his work day. One morning as he crunched through frozen earth he noticed a baby bird that had fallen out of its nest. He stopped, bent over slowly and gently picked up the little thing with one gloved hand. He breathed upon it and the bird stirred in his gloved hand, it was still alive. Suddenly a thought occurred to him and he reached for his flask of coffee (which was spiked with a bit of "homemade insulation") and carefully rubbed the gossamer liquid upon its tiny beak...Suddenly the whistle blew.
As his heart skipped a beat at the shrill sound, the man tucked the bird into a nearby cow patty and hurriedly made his way to the factory. From the moment the man deposited the little bird into the cow patty, he never thought of it again.
When the sun rose that chilly morning, so did the bird down under the cow patty. The little bird began to feel the warming effect of the cow patty all around it and the warm coffee upon his beak. As the sun breached the horizon the little bird was feeling much better. The little bird lifted its head and began to dislodge the bit of cow patty that concealed its hiding place. Slowly it arched up to the cool, clear morning basking in the sun's heated glory.
Once free of the cow patty the little bird took a large intake of air filling its lungs with fresh morning breeze. Quietly, the little bird perched in its' cow patty nest indeed grateful for another morning. Slowly the little bird began to sing weakly. Nearby a coyote heard the little song. With all senses trained on the direction of that sound the little bird soon became a fine breakfast snack. Finding no other birds in the cow patty the coyote stalked soundlessly away.
Moral:Not every one who puts you into some "mess" is your enemy and the one who takes you out of it is not always your friend. Remember, when you are in the midst of your own private mess - KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.
