Mary Ellen Shannon M.D.

Oceanside, California, United States

My story begins January 2010, when I was first diagnosed with hemochromatosis, a common disease among the Irish which can easily be treated with proper diet, nevertheless, it brought me to the BRINK OF DEATH.

I was a focused OBGYN doctor, too focused on my career, I did not have time to notice my own health, which was rapidly deteriorating. Eventually, I went to get a blood test, the first step in which I began to notice the FAILURES in the medical community.

They said I was in perfect health! THEY WERE WRONG. They did not bother to run the correct tests because they were an extra 8 dollars.

All the while, the blood in my body was retaining 80 times the amount of iron (8000 ppm) than a normal person! The iron at those concentrations attacks your body, destroying your bones and organs. The other doctors had no idea what was going on and if not for my own medical experience I would not be here typing this blog.

They started NOT with the most necessary tests..... but the cheapest tests, to save money instead of lives.

My experiences have taught me vaulable lessons:

LESSON 1: Routine labs are not adequate for anyone and can completely miss dangerous signs.

LESSON 2: Remember the majority of doctors are here to make a PROFIT FIRST, TREATMENT SECOND.

LESSON 3: To survive in this modern world you need a sound understanding of proper health, nutrition, and medicine.

FINAL LESSON: To readily yourself, you need to understand how to treat your OWN body and this is the place to START!
