Jenna Weinstein
Amherst, Massachusetts, United States
My Name is Jenna Weinstein and I am currently an HTM student, on an event planning tract at UMass Amherst.
I was extremely involved in clubs and sports in high school, and spent 12 summers at Camp Nock-A-Mixon in Pennsylvania. It was clear to see throughout my childhood that I loved being around people and am constantly trying to find new opportunites to meet people and develop relationships. This continues when I got to college and joined Alpha Epsilon Sorority, as well as Eta Sigma Delta honors society, and additionally, formed relationships with peers in the Isenberg School of Management.
As far as passions go, I get enjoyment out of being creative, inventive and innovative in regaurds to social planning (i.e events, surpises, gift making, etc.). Friends of mine have referred me "crafty" and sometimes "original" when it comes to developing new ideas and projects, and truthfully, I thrive when I have the opportunites to do so.
I was elected Vice President of Recruitment for the Alpha Epsilon Phi Beta Beta chapter for the Spring 2013-Fall 2014 term. I knew this seven-day event, which took place September 2014 and involved months of planning including many sleepless nights, would put my creativitiy, leadership, teamwork and inventory skills would be put to the test. I picked creative themes for each day, designed the rooms according to that theme, picked the attire, communicated with the sorority about how each day would go and their tasks, made video presentations, as well as marketed through social media and expos located on campus. One of the days of recruitment was an "American Pride" day in which the members wore custom made red, white and blue shirts that I had designed myseld, ate my homemade cookies that had red, white and blue sprinkles, and basked in the red white and blue ambiance of the room. Seeing the success in all my planning, aswell as recieving compliments from my peers aswell as strangers, gave me confidence as well as assurance that all my hard work paid off.
I so much enjoyed putting on these events that really allowed me to be as creative as possible. I also learned so much about being a leader and how to work with others. Going through this process solidified that event planning is most definitely my passion and being one of the current event planning interns at Lit Nightclub in Amherst is allowing me to gain more experience in the field.
