Jessica Zhou
Teacher in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Since April 2018, I have been working in an Ontario public school board on the elementary Occasional Teacher list. I will also have just finishing my first LTO, working with ESL/ELD students, as of the end of the school year.
I majored in Biology at Queen's University and completed my B.Ed at UOttawa before going abroad to China. I worked at an BC Offshore International School in a small town just outside of Shanghai for 4 years, teaching everything from ESL to elementary and middle school students to Grade 12 Biology. I also had a lot of fun learning how to set up and later on expand our high school's library, as a Teacher Librarian. Besides developing meaningful bonds with my wonderful ELL students, my favourite part of teaching abroad was getting the chance to travel to some amazing places during school breaks. After my adventures in Asia, I am now excited to be back in Toronto, building my life and career. I can't wait learn more about inquiry based learning, and find more ways to utilize the intrinsic motivation of my students.
