Ms Johnnie Walker, an all-encompassing executive and pioneer in music and entertainment, oversees multiple high-impact organizations, public advisory initiatives, and creative ventures. In her role as a Creative Economic Advisor, Ms Walker partners with cities, nonprofits, municipal agencies, and corporations to transform culture, creativity, and the arts into engines for economic opportunity, community development, and sustainable growth. Serving directly at the vital intersection of the creative economy, strategic development, and civic engagement, Ms Walker shapes actionable strategies that elevate regional talent and foster economic empowerment.

Ms Walker is the Founder and CEO of NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment, Inc.), a global support network spanning 20 chapters across the U.S., Canada, and Africa dedicated to empowering women across music, film, TV, media, and technology. She also serves as Executive Director of the NABFEME Foundation, Memphis Music Matters and is the creator of the national radio show and live performance platform, Women Who Jam!®

Prior to her work in economic advising and community strategy, Ms Walker held top executive leadership positions across the recording industry. She served as Head of Black Music for DreamWorks Records and holds the historic distinction of being named the first female Senior Vice President of Promotion for the legendary Def Jam Recordings. During her 16-year tenure at Def Jam, she restructured national promotion operations and was instrumental in launching and scaling the careers of iconic hip-hop and R&B artists, including Jay-Z, DMX, Method Man, Redman, Ashanti, LL Cool J, Ja Rule, Montel Jordan, Kelly Price and many others. Her tenure at the iconic record label also included the successful marketing of The Def Comedy Jam, the Phat Farm clothing line, and the co-marketing of successful movies The Nutty Professor, The Klumps, Jackie Chan’s Rush Hour 1 and 2, and others. Following her major label tenure, she led the Memphis Music Commission, spearheading culturally diverse music programs and municipal economic development initiatives.
