Mary-Anne Stuart

Artist and Designer in Melbourne, Australia

As a Melbourne based Australian artist, my work is predominantly inspired by the Australian native plant the banksia and I have coined a term, Banksia Imaginata, which encompasses my varied imagined artworks in this theme. My broader interests include Australian flora & fauna, architecture & design, patterns, science, travel and music.

A self described late bloomer, I have been following my passion for art and education since 2007 when, after raising three children, I returned to tertiary study. Gaining a qualification in Graphic Arts led to a BA (Media & Communication) majoring in Visual Communication. Since then I have undertaken a Diploma of Visual Arts, learning the skills and techniques to help me launch into my new career as a visual artist.

Perpetually curious and with a love of learning, I have spent six years as a volunteer tour guide at the State Library of Victoria; I love talking to visitors about the rare books and wonderful history of the Library and Melbourne.

My works are for sale online through my Etsy store, Bluethumb page or directly from me. If you'd like to stay up to date with my latest artworks, Instagram is the best way.
