I currently serve as a CISO, but have filled Chief Executive, Operations, and Intelligence roles as well in both start-ups that have had successful exits, as well as nonprofits, large corporations, and federal agencies.

I began my career in intelligence and have led several national-level programs that have had a global impact.

As a security professional I have established and managed personnel, computer, information, and physical security programs.

I've co-founded several cybersecurity start-ups, including the wildly successful Carbon Black.

I like to share what I've learned and have been published in numerous periodicals and appeared on national and international radio programs. I edited Threats in the Age of Obama and was a contributor to The Handbook of Research on Counterfeiting and Illicit Trade. My most recent book is Working in Cybersecurity.

I've been a member of the adjunct faculty at George Washington University and the National Cryptologic School, and founded and run the Computer and Information Security Research Repository.
