Bill 'Turtle' Mitcheson
A sound engineer with over 20 years experience, Bill has been involved in live music for most of his life. Starting at the young age of 16, he was by default, the "roadie" for his friend's punk-rock band in High School. In 1990 he joined the US Navy right before the start of Operation Desert Storm. After that conflict ended he continued his interest in all things audio by becoming the engineer for the ship's band, as well as completing the remote courses for audio engineering offered by the Navy. After his discharge in 1994 he relocated to Portland, OR and was picked up by the surviving members of The Jerry Garcia Band where he really honed his skills as a monitor engineer, FOH engineer, and then on to road managing the band. Since then he has worked with a large list of touring acts as well as House Engineering practically every music venue in Portland.
Bill is currently offering his services as a Hammond Organ tech, helping keyboardists keep their aging B-3 organs up and running. He also is offering his services as a consultant for music venues, recording studios, and music festivals. In the past he has worked as a consultant for Jamcruise, Langerado Music Festival, AT40 Music Festival Las Vegas, Wakarusa Music Festival, and The Mt Tabor Theater.
He currently lives in SE Portland, OR with his girlfriend of 10 years and his energetic Labradoodle.
