Biografy:

Waltraud Mucher was born in Klagenfurt, Austria. She majored in Music and Italian at the University of Graz and studied with the internationally known Karl Ernst Hoffmann, her voice coach as well as her accompanist. She went on to win several prizes in international competitions and performed as a singer of „Lieder“ and oratorio for radio and television.

She took part in many festivals ( Carinthischer Sommer, Mozartwoche Salzburg, Bregenzer Festspiele, Musikprotokoll im Steirischen Herbst) and collaborated with important orchestras and famous conductors (Fabio Luisi, Milan , Horvat, Michael Gielen, Peter Rundel, Ralf Weikert) both in premiers and CD recordings of classical and contemporary music.

As a guest singer she has sung in several opera houses throughout Germany (Bremen, Dessau, Komische Oper Berlin, Chemitz, Dresden) and Austria (Graz, Klagenfurt) and was first mezzo-soprano at the Staatstheater Cottbus from 1997-2005. She appeared in roles like Carmen, Dalila/Samson and Dalila, Cherubino/Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosina/ Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Ulrica/ Un Ballo in Maschera, Charlotte/ Werther, Begbick/ Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny and in many others.

W.M. has also taught at the conservatory in St.Pölten( near to Vienna) and at the University of Music in Graz.

In 2007 she moved to Berlin and besides her numerous engagements on the concert circuit she worked alongside her husband Ralf Gregan, the film director and author, developing a program of “Cabaret-Songs and Chansons”. W.M. now divides her time mostly on Mallorca, where she regularly gives concerts and solo-recitals for instance at the Deià International Music Festival and in Austria at the “ St. Pauler Kultursommer”. She is singing in oratories and concerts with the best ensembles and orchestras on Mallorca like the Fundació Studium-Aureum ( Bach-cantatas, Händel/ Messiah, Vivaldi/ Gloria and Magnificat G. Mahler/ Songs of a wayfarer and Lied von der Erde, Schönberg/ Nachtwandler ) with the “cor y orquestra Acadèmia 1830 ( Bach/ Johannespassion/ cantatas, Vivaldi/ Stabat Mater) and recently with the Bremer Ratschor ( Rossini/ Petite Messe Solennelle)Further concerts in 2015 were the Stabat Mater of Rossini in the cathedral of Palma de Mallorca , conducted by the new director of the symphonic orchestra of the Baleares Pablo Mielgo. In October 2015 she sang a selection of folksongs of Chopin in a concert of the XIII.International Festival de Música.
