I currently serve as Executive Director at the Local Development Research Institute, an action-oriented African non-profit think tank supporting efforts of African countries to take practical, evidence informed actions to end extreme poverty, end hunger and reduce inequalities.

I work at the intersection of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), open government, data for development and food security.

I was the Deputy Executive Director and Policy Lead at the Open Institute and worked on open data and open government projects at national and sub-national level.

I have worked in technology and innovation consulting for more than 20 years some of which was spent at Semacraft Consulting Partners, a Nairobi-based multi-disciplinary practice I founded which helped leaders identify opportunities to create and deliver new value for citizens in Africa.

I am honoured to serve on a number of advisory boards including that of the Open Data Charter, Thematic Research on Data and Statistics (SDSN-TReNDS) and the Climate Sensitive Infectious Diseases (CSID) network.
