Mr. Muhammad Tahir Lakhani was born in Karachi Pakistan on 27 April 1962 into a well- respected family.
He was a keen sportsman in his younger years, taking up tennis and playing at a professional level. Representing Pakistan at the Davis Cup and playing Junior Wimbledon were his major achievements in tennis, after which he decided to explore the ship recycling industry.
Mr Lakhani learned his trade at the pithead, when in his early 20s he worked in the ship recycling yard of a close family friend in Pakistan. He spent 3 years working from 8am to 8pm on ships and supervising the movement of steel plates after they were cut from vessels. These plates were commonly sold on-site to traders.
