I have a master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Sports Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling,I worked in the field of education and hold degrees in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, including an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction. I have worked with students with special needs and their families, as well as with school staff on issues of systemic change and school reform. I work with individuals dealing with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, and adjusting to new life circumstances. I specialize in helping those struggling with compulsive overeating as well as other eating disorders. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) along with other mental skills and techniques to help my clients develop effective coping skills and strategies. I have also been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).I am an avid runner and set a goal for running a half marathon in every state and DC by my 50th birthday. I can say that I have accomplished that goal. It was not easy as I struggled with my own issues with food and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. But as I developed and used various mental skills and strategies I was able to be successful. Now I am aiming to complete a total of 100 half marathons by my 55th birthday.
“I have a passion for working with people and assisting them to solve their own problems. I strongly believe that everyone has the capacity to resolve their issues and lead a healthy life but not everyone realizes they have the tools. Some need help in discovering the tools they possess, and I am skilled at asking the right questions and listening so that people can make these discoveries and grow into a healthier life.”
