Astronomy Graduate Student in Cambridge, Massachusetts
I am an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, a National Geographic Young Explorer, and a third year graduate student in the Department of Astronomy at Harvard University.
My current project involves using data from the Hubble Space Telescope to detect and characterize the atmospheres of exoplanets (planets outside of the Solar System).
I graduated from the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Hunter College, where I studied physics and astronomy. As an undergraduate, I worked with the BDNYC (Brown Dwarfs in New York City) research group based at the American Museum of Natural History.
I am committed to promoting diversity in scientific research communities. My colleague, Ian Weaver, and I founded GSAS Open Labs at Harvard (OLAH), an outreach organization in which graduate students give TED-style talks to 6-12 grade students at Science Cafe events and engage in "breakout sessions" following the talks to connect with the students in the audience.
I also enjoy sharing science with a broad range of audiences through various media, especially educational videos.
