Hello, I'm Murphy! My personal pronouns are they/them/theirs.

I'm a double major in Sociology and American Studies with a focus in gender and sexuality, graduating in May of 2017. Post-undergrad, I'm hoping to pursue graduate degrees in Gender & Sexuality Studies and Sociology, in order to (fingers crossed) become a professor.

As of now, I'm employed by the Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC) as a Peer Advisor and the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) as both a Student Social Justice Educator and Desk Assistant.

Within my time at KU, I've begun to develop my social justice toolbox to better understand my own and others' existences within individual spaces, such as classrooms, and more broad spaces, like western cultures, predominantly white institutions, or the globe! I strive to uphold an encompassing lens that acknowledges the varying perspectives, knowledge, and worldviews that exist on KU's campus and beyond Jayhawk Boulevard.

In my free time, you can find me in a coffee shop on Mass. St. pouring over academic articles, in office hours preparing for future research, or in the OMA chatting with friends and colleagues.

I'm always seeking new music, books, or knowledge; feel free to recommend anything to me. And I love to give recommendations, so let's share what we know and build upon each other's cultural exposure!
