Murry N. Gunty is a private investor and company founder whose career spans institutional finance and sports operations.

He began in finance at The Blackstone Group, and later worked in real estate principal investment at Lazard Frères and at Jacobson Partners. He holds an A.B. in economics from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

In 2002, Gunty founded Blackstreet Capital Holdings, a private holding company.

He founded Black Bear Sports Group in 2015 and built it from a single rink into a national platform spanning ice arenas, youth and junior hockey programs, adult leagues, tournaments, and event facilities. He served as chief executive until March 2026, when Kevin Kuby was named to the role. Gunty remains the company's founder.

Gunty grew up in Portland, Maine, and has played hockey since childhood. That background shaped his emphasis at Black Bear: keeping rinks running, lowering the cost of entry for beginning players, and widening community access to ice sports. He is based in Florida.
