The military gave me discipline. A Tool, Jig and Die Making apprenticeship gave me precision — the understanding that the difference between something that works and something that fails is often invisible to the naked eye. Seventeen years in the motor industry gave me the forensic habit of following every chain of cause and effect back to its origin, no matter how uncomfortable the destination.
In 2005 I watched my mother die — not only from cancer, but from what the treatment did to her body. I filed that somewhere that does not forget.
I have been growing mushrooms for 32 years. Not because I planned a career in mycology. Because one organism kept pulling me back until I had no choice but to pay full attention. Thirteen years of that attention has been focused on a single species, a single extraction process, and a single question: what is this organism actually capable of — and how do I unlock it completely?
I am not a scientist by training. I am a precision engineer who learned to ask biological questions. The answers have led to pre-clinical validation at the University of Louisville, five independent laboratories, dual-marker genomic sequencing, and a provisional patent estate I could not have imagined when I planted my first culture.
None of it was asked of me. The evidence simply kept leading, and I kept following.
