María Varela
Madrid (Spain)
Born in Santiago de Compostela.
I'm a 20 years old law student who's trying to change the world with some optimism and common sense. Christian and hard worker. Clear goals, an inquiring mind and a flaming heart.
Two years ago I have replaced Galicia's green coast and its people by the busy streets of Madrid. To date, in spite of some occasional homesick, I don't regret about it.
I strongly believe in the need to respect human rights and to fight for their fulfilment, because Human Rights are the soul of our foreign policy.
Maybe I will not be able to change the entire world overnight, but, as Eleanor Roosevelt said: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" and I have a dream. After all,
"Where do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home"
Never give up.
