Mir van der Linde
Designer in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Mir van der Linde is currently studying at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), in the last semester of a Bachelor of Interior Design degree (B.ID); she had previously completed and worked with a Diploma of Interior Design. She is looking forward to finishing a very intense and comprehensive education and getting back to work in the field. The degree portion of the program had a strong emphasis on the need to base all commercial interior design work on evidence-based research, which has proven invaluable.
Mir's education has prepared her to take projects from Concept to Completion. Most importantly, she can produce complete technical drawings that meet building code requirements, which are then used by contractors and trades to construct the projects. She is a detail-oriented person, who will ensure that everything involved in a given project is complete, in both commercial and residential design.
Over time, she has become more aware of the impact of Vancouver's real estate situation in terms of the high cost of commercial and residential properties. Consequently, she has taken a special interest in the challenge of designing small spaces efficiently. This involves providing for both function and form, through architectural detailing and millwork, with an outcome that produces a space that is anything but small.
