Michael Viron
Software Engineer, Project Manager, and Public Speaker in Pensacola, Florida
Throughout his long career, Mr. Viron has gained an extensive variety of experience as a senior IT manager, organization owner, speaker, volunteer, and event organizer. Since 1995, Mr. Viron has helped launch numerous startups, company divisions, product lines, professional user groups, and technology events.
In 2011, Mr. Viron launched Careers in Tech (CIT), rebooting it successfully in 2015. Since then, CIT regularly holds standing room only events across the southeastern US and virtually.
Mr. Viron's vast range of experience covers many key areas, including operations (both business & IT), project management, security, and software engineering. In addition to his full-time job, he continues significant participation as an alumni volunteer, presenter, and mentor at the University of West Florida and holds various leadership and consulting roles for projects and organizations nationwide.
In his role as Director of IT & Software Engineering at KontactIntelligence/VetCV, Mr. Viron has been heavily involved in coordinating numerous product launches and both company and division startups. A key member of the company's management team, he has a broad range of responsibilities including day-to-day technical operations, project management, security, short and long-range technical planning, and software engineering.
Additionally, Mr. Viron founded General Education Online (GEO) in 1995, handling a wide variety of technical and non-technical operations. Over the past 30 years, GEO has contributed back to the community via the Education Disaster Information System (EDIS) - providing regular updates during hurricane season and other natural disasters including Hurricanes Katrina and Helene, and the COVID pandemic.
Mr. Viron also volunteers with several local and national organizations. These include IEEE Northwest Florida (IEEE NWF), the Computer & Communications Joint Society of IEEE NWF (as Chair), the IEEE Computer Society (currently serving as Area 1 Coordinator, R3/R4), and IEEE. As part of his efforts to give back to his community, he also serves on advisory boards covering IT, computer science, and cyber forensics for Pensacola State College and Escambia County Public Schools.
