mWater

mWater is an entrepreneurial enterprise that is building a social network for water quality information around the world. With cheap, off-the-shelf water tests, an open-source mobile app, and SMS or web-based interaction points, mWater is a plug-and-play water monitoring infrastructure for low- and middle-income communities or a water information resource for individuals. All over the world, people--mostly women--spend hours a day collecting water from improved sources that are often contaminated. Increasingly, they have a mobile phone in their pocket. mWater makes that phone a tool for ensuring their water is safe.
