Mark Dabbs
Odessa, Ukraine
Originally from Tacoma, Washington, I joined the Army after high school intending to make it a career. Then the Berlin Wall fell down. I've lived throughout the United States - South Carolina, Texas, New Hampshire and Kentucky working for Continental Cablevision with Primestar Satellite TV and Amazon.com. I've been partner to a start-up web development company, served on the board of several philosophically oriented non-profit organizations. In 2004, I went to work for Lear Siegler and EG&G in Iraq -- Al Taqaddum & Anaconda.
I mostly enjoyed my time in Iraq, concluding if I could be happy living out of a tent in a hostile environment with only some damn good coffee with cheese and crackers from MRE's.... that I could be happy and make my way anywhere. After research, I resolved to live in Ukraine - best decision I've ever made. After 7+ years, I'm now a permanent resident. I work online - currently Director of Marketing and Operations for iGrOOps.com - a full-featured Membership Site platform.
I owe a lot to my wonderful wife, Lyuda, for helping create a little paradise on earth where one might least suspect. I also edit for FundingTimes.com and provide support for OdessaTalk.com.
Places Visited: Canada (Montreal & Vancouver, BC), Mexico, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates (Dubai & Abu Dhabi), Turkey (Instanbul), Hungary (Budapest), Moldova (Chisinau)
Hobbies: My longest running hobby is wargaming, which has moved from play to design using The Operational Art of War III from Matrixgames.com. The first project completed covered all of Europe from 1942 - 1945, map at 15 km per hex, with historical OOB and TO&E covering brigades, divisions and corps. The next project aims to cover all of WWII from 1939 - 1945. It should rank in the top 5 largest wargames of its kind.
