I'm currently employed as a Technology Coordinator at a K-8 parochial school in suburban Minneapolis, MN. I'm passionate about educating kids to use EdTech to help themselves.
A few things I now know...
- "Just because you can doesn't mean you should..."
- Some educators will never take time to learn how to leverage technology to their students' benefit. It doesn't make them bad teachers, but it removes my need to evangelize to them.
- Administrator support in K-12 settings is imperative-without it, tech integration remains an add-on for many and optional for others. (see above)
- Technology is no substitute for solid instructional practices & pedagogy
- There is no substitute in the classroom (or in life) for experience. Period.
