Michael Williams

Michael, known by many as Mike, is a young freelance professional contemporary and physical theatre dancer currently based in Swansea, South Wales, with strong links to London and Plymouth.
Mike, a keen young gymnast, began his training at 16 at his local college, where he studied Dance and Performing Arts. It was here his passion quickly grew and he became a part of both the Local County Youth Dance Company and the National Youth Dance Company Wales (NYDW), under the guidance of the NYDW artistic director, Henri Oguike, whom still remains a great influence.
After completing his professional training at Roehampton University, London, Mike has had the privilege to work alongside several companies and independent artists. These have included, Earthfall, Anna-Melanda Dance Company, Toni Mira, Candoco Dance Company (Moving Bodies programme). Mike has undertaken workshops with Hofesh Shechter, New Art Club, Nigel Charnock and spend three months in 2011 training at both the Merce Cunningham and Alvin Ailey Studios in New York.
At present, Mike is a company member of FFIN DANCE, a small repertory company based in the South Wales Valleys. In addition, he is also a company member of Plymouth based Dance theatre company, Exim Dance Company. As of late 2013, Mike became both the Rehearsal Director and Co-Director of Exim Dance.
Mike is a keen Yogi, with hopes of someday completing his teaching qualifications, Crossfitter and a big animal lover. His favourite genre of books is fantasy, and is eagerly waiting for season 4 of the tv series, ‘Game of Thrones’, to air in the new year.
