Martin Winkler
Strasbourg, France
Born in communist East Germany (GDR) – ask for stories! – I went for a university degree combining economics and politics in Berlin and London, following social service in Thailand and the U.S. After an interlude as a research assistant in Nairobi and work with PwC I started grad school in the area of politics (focus on humanitarian action and peace & conflict studies) in which context I had a research stay at Columbia University, New York City. Currently, I am a trainee at the Council of Europe in the partnership office between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth.
I play volleyball and like to dance salsa. I like to communicate with all different kinds of people with different cultures! On Sundays I join the Trinity International Church in Strasbourg. I like pretty much all kinds of food and like to try new things, like the Afghanistan Restaurant I recently heard about. I like to listen to others. I am keen on reading research and exchanging ideas on topics related to human science, e.g. the effect of group behaviour on individuals, ways of ideological or political influence by formal / informal governments and the impact of media reporting on public opinion, stakeholder behaviour, and political agenda setting.
