MW Stop The Stigma
Stigma /ˈstigmə/ noun: a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person.
So what is Stop The Stigma? It is a campaign to change attitudes; to stop the belief that mental illness is somehow a choice or a weakness. Our goal as a team in Mary Ward, is to stop the stigma that limits anyone from seeking help; that means making the people in our community know that it's okay to feel sad. This is a campaign that ensures the knowledge in students that help is given to those who are mentally in need of it, just as it is offered to those who are physically injured in our school.
Led by the HHG 4M1 (Human Growth & Development) class, a plan specific to the topic of mental wellness and awareness is assigned during the dates of March 17th to 21st, 2014. We hope that everyone is just as excited and eager to participate in the coming events! This is the first of many steps in creating a safe community for one and all! We are each very important and worthy of a healthy mind; we must achieve this privilege by helping each other get there.
"We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another." (Luciano de Crescenzo)
