Melissa Myers

Toronto, Ontario

I am currently a journalism student at Ryerson University. I am also a writer for the BIST (Brain Injury Society of Toronto) Beacon blog and newsletter, which is published monthly. I am also currently working as a camera operator for RUTV News and actively appyling for journalism internships.

I have an arts background and have taken two years of film production courses at York University. While studying at York I discovered that learning and writing about facts attracted me more than creating fictional productions. I then decided to pursue a career in journalism and have since begun my program at Ryerson. I am very happy with my new discipline and am excited everyday to go out and see what I can learn.

I worked on several video documentaries while attending Central Technical School, a high school in downtown Toronto, and have also worked on many film and video productions while at York.

My interests include snowboarding, photography, vinyl and news. I hope to pursue more political education in order to mold myself into a critically thinking political reporter. Both Canadian and international politics are very important to me.
