For as long as I can remember, whenever I want or desire something or set a goal for myself I get my heart set on it and that something becomes the only thing I desire. This could either be my strongest trait, or my biggest flaw. For example, when the time came around to start applying for schools, everyone else from my school was applying to 5, 6 and 7 different schools, allowing them to have something to fall back on if they weren’t accepted into the school they really wanted to go to. But I’m different because I set an expectation for myself, and a certain standard that, in my mind, I must achieve. The University of Georgia was the only school that I applied to. I made sure that I exceeded my own standard and I was sure that I would get accepted. Everyone around me told the same thing, “ Why would you only apply to one school? You’re not going to get into UGA.” But I never let another persons’ negative attitude influence me. So I stood by my decision and in the end, my preparations, goals and standards for myself pushed me through to the person I am today, able and ready to hurdle any obstacle that stands in my path to success.
